In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. And God said let there be light, and there was light.
The beginning of the creation of the universe is a testament to God’s overall power and majesty within the universe at large. God breathed the known and unknown aspects of reality into existence through his speech. It is a hard thing to comprehend that something which is able to suspend all ideas about reality and create the entire universe out of his consciousness and mind.
Upon reflecting on the nature of gods mind and in our attempt to become more christlike, we can see that it is a never ending pursuit of the Christian, to understand the mind of god. In Paul’s writing, he writes saying, who can understand the mind of god. I don’t think as a mere mortal that we would ever be able to grasp the complexity of God’s unfathomable mind. However after following jesus christ for these so many years, I often wonder what it means to have the mind of christ.
Jesus christ walked the earth as a perfect man. God went through many trials and tribulations on the earth, which eventually led to his death on the cross. Born of a virgin we see his incarnate side of being half man half god. It is an interesting debate as to whether jesus had to learn anything, or if he already understood the aspects of what it meant to be god himself. All we can say was that he understood all of the lessons of life and was a perfect example for us to follow. The question arises, would we ever be able to follow his example?
The unique truth about god was that he had a very strong relationship with his heavenly father. Jesus would do nothing as he says himself of his own accord. But infact did all those things that were pleasing to his father. This is the reason why I believe he is the perfect example for us to follow. We are taught in the gospels that jesus christ is indeed the true messiah sent from god and that we should follow him his teaching and his doctrine. Later on Paul,describes to us in his epistles, how exactly it is as to how we should follow the messiah jesus christ. Paul explains, that it is impossible to please god without faith and throughout the writings of Paul, we see how God uses Jesus himself to cultivate our minds, to be a holding place of growth for faith.
Faith is a central theme in the Bible and god says throughout the Bible both new and old testaments, that it is impossible to please him without faith. Abraham often described as the father of our faith showed early on as a Jew what God is requiring of man as to how he should conduct himself here on earth. Sadly Adam and eve were not able to acquire this precious faith and sadly fell to the devices of the devil.
Ever since the fall of mankind due to the original sin of our predecessors Adam and eve, we have seen how the author of the Bible jesus christ has been trying to get us to return to a state of homeostasis. All whilst using the tool of faith. We see many Christians who struggle to walk this path as the world and all of its immediate gratification do not seem to be appealing to the new christian. But it is in this faith that we grow,and learn the lessons which God is teaching us along the way.
All throughout the Bible,we see how man has been tempted by various trials and lusts. But it is in those rare individuals, who have left there mark on humanity whereby they have turned away from the temptations of the devil, and have found themselves walking an intimate relationship with their creator jesus christ. I can say considering my own journey was that it was not until I fully committed myself to God that my results started to change. In the Bible, it says that your faith is a walk and not a race, what that means, is that you are being purified every day and paul says this well in his writings whereby God is making us perfect and establishing his own will.
What are some of the benefits of following God and jesus christ. What I have found along my walk of faith is that I always have something, and someone to hold onto. I believed that jesus christ was the messiah, and when there was much adversity in my life, I held firm to jesus christ and although I suffered alot. I overcame all of my obstacles. I starting to live and breath God, and there was never a second in the day where I was not communing with his son. I would be in constant prayer. I turned away from sin and started to do the things that God required of me, and not the things which I required of myself. Since then I have received blessings far more than my wildest expectations. The greatest blessing,which I have received is the blessing of a sound mind. Finding peace of mind through adversity, is the greatest joy that a human being can experience in this life and nothing comes close. Being able to enjoy your thinking, and to not be a prisoner of your thoughts, but to be truly liberated, is awe inspiring. To be able to come up with creative ideas and solutions in the face of adversity is a true blessing. To be protected by your loving and heavenly father when your life is in threat, is truly relieving. To be able to help and support your family, to be able to provide food on the table everyday with a roof over your head and shelter is truly amazing. To be able to love your wife your parents and the members of your family and the community of god including yourself is all establishing.For all of these points, I believe that it is a very wise and profitable investment to make on your future. Yielding the profitable return of the fruits of the spirit and the peaceable action of the spirit. Amen. Thanks be to God.
